Valentine Weekend.

via google

Thank You
by Led Zeppelin

If the sun refused to shine,
I would still be loving you.
If the mountains should crumble to the sea,
there would still be you and me.

Kind woman,
I give you my all,
Kind woman, nothing more.

Little drops of rain whisper of the pain,
tears of loves lost in the days gone by.
But my love is strong,
with you there is no wrong,
together we shall go until we die.
My, my, my.
Inspiration's what you are to me,
inspiration, look... see.

And so today,
my world it smiles,
your hand in mine, we walk the miles,
Thanks to you it will be done,
for you to me are the only one.
Happiness, no more be sad,
happiness....I'm glad.
If the sun refused to shine,
I would still be loving you.
If the mountains should crumble to the sea,
there would still be you and me

This is one of my ultimate favorite love songs of all time. When M and I started talking he burned me a few CD's full of great songs that he loved. I wasn't sure what he was trying to say with these mix CDs. Being a woman I think I read into their message more than he intended at the time. He also included a great letter and a drawing. The drawing was of a floor plan for a loft apartment. We had discussed how we both had always wanted a loft apartment, as well as having an art space. Him drawing me that made me realize he was a great listener, and maybe is why I read more into the meaning behind the songs on the mix CDs. This was one of the songs included in his mixes, and one that stood out the most. Even as good friends we were there for each other, and this song really illustrates that to this day. And for the record, when we first moved in together 5 years ago, we lived in a three level, wide open loft like feel apartment - complete with an art closet. Deep down I'm so thankful I have him and that we found each other. He's my one and only, my Valentine. I hope you all have a very happy V-Day!!!!

What are some of your favorite love songs?

Robert Plant always says it best doesn't he? :) My favorite love songs would have to be those by David Gray. I love his music.

I Need Love by LL Cool J
Never Tear Us Apart by Inxs
Two Hearts Beat As One by U2
Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel
Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers
When We Dance by Sting
One by U2
Someday by Sugar Ray

For various reasons, these songs are the soundtrack to my twenty-year-relationship/almost sixteen-year marriage. I'm trying to squeeze a Coldplay one in there now.

Have a happy weekend!

Awesome post, Kell! I love love LOVE "Thank You!" And Tori Amos does an amazing cover of it too!

And "thank you" to Kristin for mentioning David Gray! :) He has some of the most amazing love songs. I adore "Please Forgive Me" and I SOOO wanted to use it in my wedding, but apparently it's a "sad love song" as opposed to a "happy love song." I actually prefer sad love songs . . . is there anything more romantic than The Smiths' "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out?"

You just quoted Led Zeppelin. You are SO my people. I also got a mix CD when Neal and I started talking. He gave it to me when I met him in England for his R&R and I listened to it the entire 9 hour plane ride back to the states. By the time I landed in Cincy, we were married with 4 kids (in my head, of course). But then we did end up getting married...so I think a mix CD is a great start. I've been begging for him to make me another one every since. I'm still waiting. But my fave love song (and one of "our" songs..) "God Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts. When you have 3 ex fiances, this sort of becomes your theme song...
Happy Valentine's Day to you all!!! I can feel the luv from here!

Ok, ok, ok, don’t get me wrong, there are several songs for us, romantic ones like "We belong Together" by Gavin Degraw {engagement} and "somewhere only we know" by Keane. But I have to say the song that reminds me the most about us is "Baby got back" by Sir Mix-a-lot...we danced to this lovely tune at our wedding :)
