target. my BFF and my worst enemy all in one.

The title pretty much says it all. Target is my best friend and my worst enemy all in one store. I adore just about everything I see in that place - which then becomes the enemy of my wallet. I should really learn to just go to the store and go directly to where I need to get something and leave. No cart, no basket, just my two hands. I'd get out much cheaper if I followed these rules, and didn't window shop. I can't help it thought. On high note it's a great place to get inspiration, much like Pottery Barn catalogs - and I will admit Target is MUCH cheaper than PB as well. Cheaper but still at times, not quickly affordable or attainable for a girl on a strict budget. That being said the whole point of this is to show the few things at Target that I've been obsessing over since the first time I laid eyes on them.

Obsession #1: This typography area rug caught my eye the minute I saw it. M told me that it would look great in "my room" (meaning the craft room/back bedroom/guest room/workout room/computer room/ woman cave - as in, not the man cave). I agreed.

Obsession #2:
This chair. They have about 6 different fabrics to choose from, so it's still a toss up, but I feel that I NEED this chair, make that two chairs. I would love to have two of these to flank the fireplace but with the odd layout of our living room at this current house that isn't exactly possible unless we ditch the love seat. Note: These chairs are extremely comfortable and I didn't think they would be.

Obsession #3:
I've been searching for a while for a rug to replace the area rug in my kitchen. We got our current rug for a great price (obviously I bought it and didn't cry about it), and it is a BIG area rug, but it's become a bit worn. I wanted to get something new without having to redo the entire look and feel of my kitchen and it's accessories. This rug would fit the bill in a heartbeat. I have tons of reds, yellows, oranges, greens throughout the kitchen. Add to this the all black appliances, and a pale brown paint color on the walls I think this would give a great amount of pop and still go well with what we currently have. Truth be told I'd love to have a very light kitchen with tons of aqua, gray, white and yellow colors but that will have to wait for the moment in time when we actually OWN a home and can change it all to suit our taste and needs.

I guess it's all in moderation and baby steps to get all you desire for your home. After all if I got my house just the way I wanted it right away, there would be no future projects and I'd be bored and want to change it again in a year or two anyway. Trust me, I know me.

I love those chairs. I agree with you about Target. MDH is always leery when I go by myself...it's hard to say what I'll come home with .

xoxo!

Target is dangerous! I went in the other day for candy... just candy. Walked out $150 later! Not cool... but I do love that chair. I see it and debate everytime I go, But I'm just not sure where I would put it in our little tiny apartment )=

Domestic Goddess - I know my boyfriend gets worried when I go. Usually he's with me so I have a bit of restraint! I have the same issue Jules - go in for cat food and come out with TONS O' STUFF (and usually forget the darn cat food!) I figured if I get these chairs I will store one in the dining area and one in the "woman cave". And only bring them out when needed - we shall see!

I agree! Target has such fun stuff! my sister in law has the rug (#3) in her living room and I love it! such a beautiful design.

Jennifer I am now jealous of your sister-in-law ;) I bet it looks amazing. I would have snagged this rug for our living room had I seen it before purchasing the really nice one we got from Lowe's (brown tones w/ a leaf pattern) - I think my boyfriend might think #3 is a bit too girlie for the living room but wouldn't mind it so much in our kitchen.

Girl, Target gets me in SO much trouble! I spend WAY too much money there, but I can't help it, I'm just drawn to it like a cat with shiny objects! LOL

Love that typography rug, it's different and modern and really artsy! And I actually saw that chair at Target today and took pics with my iPhone so I could look it over more closely when I got home: )

Im hopping on your bandwagon after just one post! I am at taget at least 3 times a week and in the midst of copy catting something there!

Welcome Jessica - I adored your title to your blog and what you had to say in the first post you had as well! Target is a great mistress that's for sure! ;)

Coffee - I have the same issue my poor boyfriend gives up on me and goes to the toy section. If we ever lose each other in the store we know the 2 places to look HOME and TOYS ;)

Looks like we share a BFF. Target can really get a girl in trouble. I do hate how they are ALWAYS asking you if you want a Target card. Are they trying to bankrupt me???

I do love those chairs! Ditch that love seat and go for the two chairs. :) Love seats are such a waste - unless you are snuggling with someone :P

Target is dangerous! I have to practice some serious self-restraint when I go in that store.

You're so right Lynda! And yes... don't get a target card.. it's the devil, especially the one with the VISA logo on it - trust me... I know! ;)
