tickled tuesday: the picture says it all

There really isn't much that I could add to this post. Honestly the picture says it all, but you know me I'm never one to shut my pie hole, so here goes! I laughed loud about this when my dad sent it to me. I laughed even more when I realize what must have gone through his head after seeing the picture and remember all the years that I begged my mother and my father for a damn horse.

via email from my Pops

And I didn't just beg for a horse, no, I even went as far as to shove my spring horse (horse on a spring harness support) under our basement steps (unfinished basement) next to the litter box and called it his stable. I then proceeded for two months straight to demonstrate to my parents that I could be a responsible horse owner. I would feed him daily, clean his stall as well as the litter box as needed, it was my first chore after all, and even brushed his lovely (read: plastic) body and hair. His name was Wilbur, I was a bit obsessed with Mr. Ed but thought Mr. Ed was a stupid name for a horse, so Wilbur was the next logical choice for a Nick at Nite obsessed child. Needless to say after the two months of obsessing over Wilbur my parents still wouldn't give in to my pleas. "Kelly, we don't have room for a horse in our yard." they'd tell me and I would quickly reply "We live on 8 acres of land, why can't we knock down some trees and build a barn?" Their opinions and rules always won over mine and that sucked. Wilbur soon was sent away too goodwill when I got too big to ride him or play with him and eventually I got over my whole wanting a horse dream. Not soon after I got over having any pets other than dogs and cats my mom came home with a damn dwarf lop eared rabbit, which she claimed I asked for. I did not, but that is another story for another day.

Cute story! Can't wait to hear the one about the rabbit. And that picture is funny...kind of looks like a mini Drew Barrymore...wasn't she in a move called "Fire Starter"? That's what it reminded me of!

I can def. see the Firestarter which was an awesome book btw.

Here's a little fyi: I've never ridden a horse. Never. At all. Not even a pony. And I have an uncle that raised TN walkers.

Natalie - I have never ridden a horse either. I think I might have rode a pony at the fair when I was really young but I am not sure... if I don't remember it it didn't happen right?

This entire post cracked me up. The stable. THE STABLE!! hahahaha. Oh man. I was obsessed with Nick at Nite too... I Dream of Jeannie was my FAVORITE and I used to gather all the pillows in the house, pile them up, sit on them and pretend I was in my "bottle". Weird.

That image is the BEST.

I love that picture! Maybe that's why my dad DID buy us horses. We must have struck the fear of God into him at some point. Trust me, those things need more than a litter box, but I love that you put yours under the porch.

That is the greatest story EVER.

I never wanted a horse. I think I was the only one of my friends. I don't think I've ever ridden a horse either...outside of a pony ride at a carnival once that I only believe happened because there is photographic evidence. I've always had an aversion to stinkiness and the dogs were a lot of work...I can't even imagine how much work a horse would be.

That photo is priceless.

8 acres and no horse? Talk about a waste of space! Completely unreasonable! I wonder if your parents talked to mine. They made me narrow down my hobbies before going into jr. high. I had to choose between riding, soccer and dance. Really I didn't get to choose because the barn was 20 minutes away while the others were local. I'm still scarred by the "decision."

HUTCH - IIII KNOW! I ran around in those wooded acres EVERY dang day - why couldn't I have a horse to let him poop out there/!?!? LAMESAUCE!

My two cents about horses are as follows: they scare the bejezus out of me. Kelsey my hubby went horseback riding this weekend with one of his students and her Dad, and that horse was a monster!! like so huge! Her eye was as big as both of mine! *shudder*

That being said, you sounded very responsible, it was such a shame you didn't get a pony.

I think you had a TOTALLY valid argument. 8 acres is a LOT of land. You could have had 2 horses. What is a lop-eared bunny going to do with 8 acres of land except multiply like...well...rabbits. And then that's a much worse problem than 2 horses. If you still want to live the dream, I know a guy in KY....

Hi there - I just came across your blog. I must say I'm hooked. I linked to your page from my blog today (don't expect a huge influx of readers, I don't have that many) because I stole something from your site. Please don't report me to the blog authorities. ;)

I took one look at the pic before I even read the post and started cracking up! I'm going to forward the link to my mom because for YEARS I begged for a pony, too!

This is amazing. It almost reminds me of the end of Office Space when Milton burns down the office:)

Okay, so I know a dwarf bunny isn't a pony, but I have always wanted one.

I think they're so damn cute.

The only thing that keeps me from getting one is that I think I will want to play with it more than you're supposed to...

I think I'm better off waiting a few years to get a dog.
