weekend wardrobe.

With football season in full swing I started to think about my weekend wardrobe. It seems that every Saturday and Sunday I spend my day dressed in athletic gear supporting my favorite teams (Alabama University and the Pittsburgh Steelers - sometimes even the University of North Carolina GO HEELS!). This isn't such a big deal I guess - it makes getting dressed those mornings easy, and I'm certainly not alone. It does get a bit embarrassing when M and I are wearing the same shirt. (We already dress the same by accident on a regular basis - it's rather creepy). Truth be told if I see a shirt I like, I know he'll probably want one too, so I buy one for both of us in our designated sizes - we have at least 3 of the same shirts (not all athletic mind you). I've turned him into a Steelers fan and he has turned me into a Crimson Tide fan. My issue is this, if we're going out to a bar, or we're hanging at a friends house in all honestly it's not a big deal to be dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, but I have to admit I really love the flair Southern Belles have to dressing classy and supporting their teams. If you've ever watched an SEC football game you'll know what I mean. The girls dress to the 9's in school colors to support their boys on the field. It's amazing. And honestly the guys do too. You often seen Southern boys dressed in button up shirts sporting team colors or even ties to the games. I can't say it's strictly a Southern thing but I know most of my friends back home sport two things when watching football either it's a jersey or a t-shirt and since it's so cold up North this time of year already, we usually cover up with big coats if we're at the actual game. (FUNCTION BEFORE FASHION WHEN IT COMES TO THAT - and I'm sure many Southern girls are thinking I'm crazy for saying that). Momma always said, you can't be beautiful and comfortable at the same time!

One of my favorite blogs that I keep up with is Leslie's over at A Blonde Ambition. She often does a TREND WATCH segment and recently did one all about this topic of getting some fancy, classy digs for game day. A Blonde Ambition: Trend Watch Show Your Team Pride I fell in love with the website she featured True Colors Apparel. The clothing is so cute and comes in many designated college football colors, which can be hard to find or match at random clothing stores. It's never the right shade of crimson, or blue etc. I can't thank Leslie enough for posting the info about this on her blog!

My favorite had to be this dress hands down (Also one of the ones Leslie picked as one of her faves). It's so adorable. A bit short, but I figure with some leggings and some boots it would be completely adorable. I guess in my mind I want to be a bit more girlie without losing the respect of KNOWING a thing of two about football in the process - and let's be honest, I wear the same 4 different shirts, and 1 jersey each weekend - maybe it's time to switch it up a bit. This also would be a great outfit to wear out a night to the bar/party to support your team and still look hot at the same time! I don't like to go "OUT" in sneakers and jeans w/ an athletic shirt unless it's to watch the game. Otherwise I like to be girlie and get dressed up.

What do you football loving ladies wear each week for game day? Do you have any special rituals?

I KNOW - Trust me there are a few AL locations but none are convenient for me unless I was going to head to a game @ Tuscaloosa. They need to get an online store going! I can see you sporting a purple dress/tunic!

OOOH SONJA you shouldn't have I'm heading over right now! Thank you!

You can generally find me wearing a purple t-shirt (or sweatshirt) on game days to support my K-State Wildcats! I also try to wear a purple shirt to work on Fridays, too. But I agree, that dress is pretty adorable! It's always nice when you can look sporty AND stylish... but on those blustery, midwest November football days, a comfy hoodie just fits the bill for me! :
